Mr. Esquivias graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 1980 and was admitted to the Philippine Bar the following year. He obtained his Master in Public Administration from the University of Santo Tomas in 1986 and his Master of Laws Major in Taxation from the Manuel L. Quezon University in 1993. Atty. Esquivias is also a Certified Public Accountant as he passed the CPA Board Examinations in 1975. Mr. Esquivias is the Managing Partner of the Law Firm of Esquivias Conlu Vidanes & Yabut since 2010. He previously served as the Commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) from 2008 to 2009. He also held other important positions in the BIR, serving as Deputy Commissioner for Legal and Enforcement (1998 – 2000), OIC, Deputy Commissioner of Legal & Enforcement Group (1997-1998), and OIC, Assistant Commissioner Legal Service (1997). He was also a professor of Taxation in the University of the Philippines from 1986-1998 and from 2006-2010. He was a consultant to the Office of the Senate President from 2010-2012, and to the Congressional Oversight Committee on Comprehensive Tax Reform Program from 2006-2007.
